Meet Essie Kim, PT, DPT, OCS

- Credentialed Clinical Instructor

Dr. Essie Kim graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Psychology. She continued her education with Rutgers to earn her Doctorate in Physical Therapy and graduated with honors. Her conviction to pursue orthopedics led her to the orthopedic residency at Drexel University where she was able to treat various orthopedic conditions, shadow and observe surgeries with the best orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine physician in the country, teach in the doctorate physical therapy program, and participate in research at the Running Performance and Gait Lab.

Currently, she treats patients with an evidence-based model believing in an individualized treatment approach. She practices by combining motor learning principles with strength and conditioning strategies to optimize patient recovery. Essie also draws from her own experience having undergone 3 ACL surgeries from being an athlete playing basketball and lacrosse most of her life. She continues to be an adjunct instructor and teaches at Rutgers’ physical therapy program where she is able to remain up to date on evidence and clinical skills, allowing her to give best care to the patients she treats. As much as Essie enjoys physical therapy, she believes in a balanced lifestyle. She spends her time exercising, backpacking to different countries to learn about their culture, enjoying chill nights with friends and family, and spending time with her dog, Maddie.
